The Fray are an American rock band from Denver, Colorado, formed in 2002. They broke through with their debut album "How to Save a Life" (2005), whose title track became a global hit and remains their signature song. Original frontman Isaac Slade stepped down in 2022, with co-founder and guitarist Joe King taking over lead vocals alongside longtime members Dave Welsh and Ben Wysocki. In 2026 the trio released "A Light That Waits", their first studio album in twelve years.
"How to Save a Life" received RIAA Diamond certification (11x platinum) at a ceremony at Ryman Auditorium on August 12, 2025, presented personally by RIAA's chairman.
The Fray released the album "A Light That Waits" on March 13, 2026 - the band's first studio album in 12 years, with 11 songs written by King, Welsh and Wysocki.
The band announced the "Summer of Light Tour" in North America on January 26, 2026 with Dashboard Confessional as support on most dates.
39 of the dates on the 20th Anniversary Tour sold out, and the band received the Diamond award during the tour.
The Fray returned with the EP "The Fray Is Back" (September 2024) - six new songs with Joe King as lead vocalist for the first time on an official release.
