About

Tor Nørretranders (born 1955 in Copenhagen) is a Danish popular-science author with more than 30 books to his name. He is best known internationally for *The User Illusion* (Danish: *Mærk verden*, 1991), in which he introduced the concept of 'exformation' and argued that conscious awareness accounts for only a tiny fraction of the brain's information processing. Alongside his writing career he has worked as a journalist at outlets including *Information* and Danmarks Radio, and held an adjunct professorship in the philosophy of science at Copenhagen Business School.
