Lecture with Tor Nørretranders: Alderdomsoprør
Assens Bibliotek, Assens · Free entry
In his book "Alderdomsoprør", Tor Nørretranders calls on older people to use the wisdom that a long life brings to fight for the world they leave to future generations. He points to the transformative potential that the older part of the population possesses.
Soon generations will grow up who have never experienced fish in the seas, snow on the roads, or wild food in the gardens. Older people have witnessed greater diversity in nature and more community in society than what remains today - and that is a responsibility. According to Nørretranders, older people have a moral obligation to rebel against the loss of that diversity. Old age is not only about the elderly themselves, but about the world that is left behind.
Tor Nørretranders is the author of numerous books about what it means to be human. The lecture takes place in the room Udsigten, a meeting room on the 1st floor of Assens Library.
