About

Tortoise are an instrumental post-rock band from Chicago, formed in 1990, whose five members - Dan Bitney, John Herndon, Douglas McCombs, John McEntire and Jeff Parker - weave jazz, electronics, krautrock and dub into a sound that resists easy categorisation. Their 1996 album "Millions Now Living Will Never Die" is widely regarded as a landmark of the genre, and their influence on experimental and alternative music has remained substantial for three decades.
