Walter Trout (born March 6, 1951, Ocean City, New Jersey) is an American blues guitarist, singer and songwriter with more than five decades in the game. He served as lead guitarist in Canned Heat (1981-84) and John Mayall's Bluesbreakers (1984-89) before launching a solo career in 1989 that has produced over 25 albums. A near-fatal liver condition in 2014 led to a transplant and the acclaimed comeback record Battle Scars (2015). He has won four Blues Music Awards and remains a major draw on the European blues circuit.
