About

WU LYF (pronounced 'woo life', short for 'World Unite Lucifer Youth Foundation') are an indie rock band from Manchester, formed in 2008 by Ellery Roberts, Evans Kati, Tom McClung and Joe Manning. They built a cult following through deliberate obscurity - no interviews, faces hidden behind bandanas - and a raw, organ-driven sound they called 'heavy pop'. Their debut album 'Go Tell Fire to the Mountain' (2011), recorded in an abandoned church in Ancoats, drew wide critical acclaim before the band abruptly split in 2012. They reunited in 2025 and released their second album, 'A Wave That Will Never Break', in 2026.
