Yalla Miku are a Geneva-based collective founded by Bongo Joe label head Cyril Yeterian and drummer Cyril Bondi, drawing together musicians with roots in Eritrea, Morocco, Algeria and Switzerland. Their sound pits gnawa, krar music and Afrobeat against postpunk, krautrock and electronics - keeping the friction intact rather than smoothing it away. A critically praised debut in 2023 was followed by '2' (November 2025, Bongo Joe Records), cementing their reputation as one of Europe's most distinctive cross-cultural acts.
Yalla Miku released the second album '2' on November 7, 2025 on Bongo Joe Records with a renewed lineup and songs in Arabic, Tigrinya and French.
The album '2' received positive reviews internationally, including from PopMatters, which highlighted it as one of Bongo Joe's strongest releases in 2025.
With the new album, Cyril Yeterian sang in Arabic for the first time, inspired by his family's background in Anatolia, Syria and Lebanon.
The band performed at the Eurosonic festival in Groningen in January 2026 as part of a European tour.
Four musicians from the debut album left the band ahead of '2', and new members Emma Souharce (synthesizer) and Louise Knobil (bass) joined the quintet.
