Yasukazu Kano is a Japanese shinobue (bamboo flute) player and former member of the internationally acclaimed taiko ensemble Kodo. Born in Tokyo in 1963, he joined Kodo in 1987 and performed at venues including Carnegie Hall and the Berlin Philharmonic Hall before leaving in 1997 to pursue a solo career. Living on Sado Island, he developed his own playing technique and teaching system - the Shinobue KANO Method - and has since given over 2,000 performances across more than 30 countries. He has also composed music for NHK television, film and theatre.
