Herning Kirke is the parish church of Herning Sogn, situated on the town square. It was consecrated on 1 December 1889 to a design by architect Claudius August Wiinholt of Viborg in the Romantic style. To fit the church into the townscape, the chancel faces north rather than the traditional east. The altarpiece, painted by Joakim Skovgaard in 1915, depicts Jesus in the synagogue at Nazareth, and the organ by Marcussen og Søn has 33 stops. The church has its own boys' choir and regularly hosts concerts and cultural events.
