SIGURDÍS - Concert at Nordatlantens Brygge
Nordatlantens Brygge, Copenhagen · 90–120 kr. · ≈ 12–16 €
Icelandic composer, pianist and vocalist Sigurdís Tryggvadóttir presents her debut album 'Bergmál fjallanna' (Echo of the Mountains) at Nordatlantens Brygge. After several years in Denmark, she has turned her attention to her Icelandic roots and explores how memories, stories and voices can return in new forms.
Drawing on jazz, classical piano and Icelandic folk music, the album combines her own compositions with poems and songs by her great-uncle, Jónas Tryggvason. The music springs from their shared homeland in northwestern Iceland. At the concert, Sigurdís is accompanied by double bassist Mariusz Praśniewski and drummer Péter Horváth, and the music moves in a field of tension between composition and improvisation.
The concert lasts 60 minutes, and the hall and café open 45 minutes before the start.
Tickets: 120 kr. (general) / 90 kr. (members of Nordatlantens Venner or students with valid ID). Note that Nordatlantens Brygge does not refund purchased concert tickets.
