Two Folk High School Days at Ribelund Festsal - November 2026

Cultural association Quedens and Ribe Library invite you to two folk high school days at Ribelund Festsal on Tuesday 24 and Wednesday 25 November 2026. The event is organized in collaboration with folk high school educator Niels Ole Frederiksen from Middelfart, who leads both days.

The folk high school days are open to everyone. There is no performance pressure - singing, storytelling and conversation are at the heart of the programme, with the aim of public education and social fellowship across ages and life experience.

Participation is sold as a complete package - both days are connected, and you purchase the full programme. Price: 1,095 kr., including coffee/tea, lunch and all lectures. Places are limited.

Tuesday 24 November programme

9.00-9.30: Morning song and storytelling with Niels Ole Frederiksen.

9.40-12.00 (coffee break 10.30-10.50): "Current Political Orientation" with news journalist and political commentator Jens Ringberg from Copenhagen - a tour of Christiansborg and surroundings. Note: If a general election is called on the same day, Jens Ringberg may cancel and a substitute will be found.

12.10-13.00: Lunch. Beer, water and wine available for purchase.

13.00-15.10 (coffee and cake 13.50): "Dialogue Coffee with Cream" with secretary and former MP Özlem Cekic from Copenhagen. Based on the book "Thanks for Coffee", she shares her work as a bridge-builder and the importance of mutual respect across social and religious divides. Özlem Cekic is currently secretary general of "The Bridge Builders" and travelled for many years with Chief Rabbi Bent Melchior.

15.10: Communal singing closes the day.

Wednesday 25 November programme

9.00-9.30: Morning song and storytelling with Niels Ole Frederiksen.

9.40-12.00 (coffee break 10.30-10.50): "To the Core" with author and social worker Almaz Mengesha from Copenhagen. The lecture is a personal account of Almaz's life and upbringing, about embracing life despite challenges and finding comfort in one's own body - and a critique of perfectionism culture.
