Carl Nielsen's Christmas
Sankt Pauls Kirke, Aarhus · 75–150 kr. · ≈ 10–20 €
Aarhus Chamber Orchestra invites you to a Christmas concert at Sankt Pauls Church, with Carl Nielsen's music at the centre - from grand orchestral works to beloved Christmas songs.
The concert opens with Nielsen's flute concerto, which celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2026, and moves from there towards Christmas through four of his Christmas songs in entirely new orchestral arrangements by Magnus Plejdrup. Two of them - "My heart ever wanders" and "My Jesus, let my heart receive" - are well-known, while "Homely Christmas, shine you now!" and "Come Christmas, to earth, come noble guest" are rarely heard in the concert hall. Along the way, there is communal singing of selected Christmas songs.
Soprano Emilie Haaning Christensen and flautist Sofia Ericson perform. Conductor and artistic director Magnus Plejdrup also serves as host, weaving the concert together with stories about Nielsen's life and music.
