The Archive's Hidden Treasures. Fantastic, Uncomfortable and Forgotten Stories of Copenhagen
Thu, 3 Dec 2026 · 15:30 — 17:00
Københavns Stadsarkiv, Copenhagen · 50 kr. · ≈ 7 €
This guided tour takes you down into the basement storage beneath City Hall, where the entire city's memory is kept. The archive holds the documents that tell the official history from the Middle Ages to modern times - but over the centuries, the archivists have also preserved testimony to the city's more unknown, hidden and suppressed sides.
The storage rooms are normally closed to the public. Here participants will hear about the archive's gems that have survived by sheer chance, and about an uncomfortable chapter from the State Archives' time under German occupation of Denmark.
