Ceramics for Young Adults and Adults - Age 16+, Winter

In this ceramics course, you work with both classical and experimental techniques - you'll have clay in your hands from day one. There are set assignments to work from, but plenty of room for your own ideas and expression.

The course covers forming techniques such as slab technique, coil technique, casting, figure modeling, carving in clay (kurinuki), and casting in small plaster molds. You'll also be introduced to decoration techniques: glazing, burnishing, underglazes and decocolors, sgraffito, silkscreen, printing techniques with burnishing and carving your own stamps. Along the way, you'll create your own templates for decoration and build a personal collection of glaze samples.

All materials are included in the course fee. The group meets 8 times for 3 hours each: 12/1, 19/1, 26/1, 2/2, 16/2, 2/3, 9/3, and 16/3.
