Rasmus Tantholdt - war correspondent: Tuesday 12 October 2027, 19:00–23:59, Portalen, Greve Teater- og Musikhus, Greve.
Organizer: MOD TIL
Rasmus Tantholdt takes the audience to some of the world's most burning conflict zones. He shares his personal account of the Israel-Gaza conflict, which he has covered intensively since it flared up again in October 2023.
Since 2003, Rasmus has worked as an international correspondent in war, conflict, and disaster zones. He was the only Scandinavian journalist reporting from Kyiv during the critical weeks of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, and he has also covered the wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Syria, as well as the Arab Spring.
In the lecture, he talks about life behind the camera - the ethical and moral dilemmas he often faces, the heavy stories, but also the amusing episodes along the way. Rasmus describes himself as having experienced what others live through in three or four lifetimes. The lecture is informative and current, told with warmth and empathy, and with room for humor despite the harsh subjects.
Rasmus Tantholdt graduated from the Danish School of Journalism in June 2000 and started the same year at TV2 News' domestic desk, from which he moved to the foreign desk in 2003. He has received several awards for his journalistic work: a German Marshall Fellowship in 2006, the Steen Bådsgaard Prize in 2009, the TV Prize for best news story in 2012 and 2014, and in 2022 the Publicist Prize for his work in Ukraine.
