Klaus Mølmer, professor of quantum physics at the Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen, introduces the world of quantum physics and the so-called "quantum revolution" - a development of technologies based on the most paradoxical quantum phenomena.

The lecture covers how quantum computers work and what they can be used for. The event is livestreamed and free, but requires free ticket registration.

About the venue: Kulturstedet Lindegaarden

Kulturstedet Lindegaarden is a four-winged farmstead dating from 1650 and the last intact courtyard farm in Kongens Lyngby. The yellow building sits in the old village quarter Bondebyen and was bought from the municipality in 2013 for just 10 kroner; an exterior restoration funded by the A.P. Møller Foundation was completed in 2020. Run entirely by volunteers, it hosts concerts, Sunday matinees, lectures and debates, and its halls can be hired for meetings and private events.

One of Denmark's leading theoretical physicists, Mølmer has shaped the field through the Mølmer-Sørensen gate, now used in top quantum computing labs worldwide. He is equally at home on stage as in the lab, translating the paradoxes of the quantum world into terms any curious mind can grasp.

Mølmer received the Carlsberg Foundation Research Prize 2025 for his groundbreaking research in theoretical quantum optics and quantum mechanics; the prize was presented by the Queen at a ceremony at Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek.
