Glenn Bech on Relationships and Class

Glenn Bech discusses his 2025 novel "Jeg er ikke færdig med dig" (I'm Not Done with You), which follows Lasse as he struggles to reconcile a turbulent childhood with his relationship to the compassionate Emil. The novel poses deeply personal questions: What happens to our capacity for intimacy when no one ever showed us how? How do you explain yourself to a partner when vulnerability was punished for years?

Bech approaches the social-mobility debate from an unexpected angle. Rather than education and career, he examines what is lost internally when you leave your background behind. He draws parallels to Dirch Passer - drunk on stage, seeking recognition - and to politician Inge Fischer Møller, who withdrew when the public could not give her what she never received as a child.

Bech debuted in 2021 with the autofictional memoir "Farskibet" and later published the manifesto "Jeg anerkender ikke længere jeres autoritet" (2022). He holds a degree in psychology from Aarhus University and graduated from the Danish Writers' School in 2019. His awards include the Blixen Prize 2022, Politiken's Literature Prize 2022, Albert Dam's Memorial Grant 2021, and the Munch-Christensen Cultural Grant.
