Guided Breathing - Calm Body and Mind (1:45 PM-2:00 PM)
Hovedbiblioteket, Aarhus · Free
Conscious breathing affects the body's parasympathetic nervous system - including through the vagus nerve - and can thereby reduce stress and anxiety. When we are under pressure, our heart rate rises and breathing becomes short and shallow; by directing attention to the breath, you can counteract that very reaction.
Neurobiologist Karen Johanne Pallesen leads the session. Participants receive headphones and work through exercises that demonstrate how breathing can lead to calm and mental balance.
The session runs from 1:45 PM to 2:00 PM and is also held from 12:45 PM to 1:00 PM. It is part of Folkeuniversitetet's knowledge festival Hearts & Minds and takes place in the Udsigten room at Hovedbiblioteket.
