Concertmaster Christina Åstrand from the DR Symphony Orchestra performs alongside organist Per Salo in a concert devoted to Johann Sebastian Bach. Garnisonskirken, a Baroque church built in 1706 in central Copenhagen, provides the setting for works by one of music history's greatest composers. Originally constructed for the military garrison, the church today serves as a parish church hosting services, concerts, and religious ceremonies. About: Christina Åstrand

Violinist Christina Åstrand has led the Danish National Symphony Orchestra as concertmaster since 1993, while also maintaining an active career as soloist and chamber musician. Her recording of the Ligeti and Per Nørgård violin concertos with the orchestra and Thomas Dausgaard earned the French Diapason d'Or in 2001.
