Christina Åstrand (b. 1969, Skanderborg) has been concertmaster of the Danish National Symphony Orchestra since 1993, winning the position at just 22. Her range spans classical repertoire to contemporary premieres - she is one of the few violinists worldwide to master György Ligeti's violin concerto. She has premiered and recorded works by Per Nørgård, Hans Abrahamsen and other leading Danish composers, and since 1996 has performed in Duo Åstrand/Salo with pianist Per Salo. In 2019 she was nominated for the Nordic Council's Music Prize.
