Book Club: 'Rasmus Nielsøn' by Rasmus Daugbjerg

The Book Club is for everyone who enjoys reading and discussing books with others. Librarian Esben Hansen hosts and guides the conversation about the book.

This time the club reads 'Rasmus Nielsøn' by Rasmus Daugbjerg - a historical novel about the tenant farmer Rasmus Nielsøn, who on a cold December day walks his field at Besser Rev on Samsø with a heart broken by unhappy love. From the sea rises a creature: the mermaid Ibrant. She carries a prophecy about the prince soon to be born and who will later become Christian IV, and she needs a human to bring it to the king. The novel is freely based on a historical source from the late 1500s.
