Exhibition: The Journey of Light - Artluminis

The art collective Artluminis presents The Journey of Light at Hvidovre Main Library. The exhibition is created by artists Ina Wittbold and Mette Hansgaard, who each explore the dynamics of light and the universe's cosmic waves through their own artistic language, drawing on Ole Rømer's historical discovery of the speed of light.

Wittbold's paintings work with cubist fragments, architectural lines, and shifting focal points. Intense colour fields are broken by striking black lines, and by placing multiple focal points within the same work, she dissolves the traditional sense of space, so the paintings balance between the two- and three-dimensional.

Hansgaard paints with flowing acrylic in transparent layers, where spirals, light waves, planets, and nebulae take form. The technique draws on her experience with watercolour painting: colour is built up layer by layer, so light seems to emerge from the depth of the canvas. In addition, ceramic sculptures inspired by the universe and the building blocks of life, executed in stoneware with hints of glaze and acrylic glass.

The exhibition takes place in the Library Café and the Foyer. Free admission.
