Learn How Computers Think: Create Your Own Quiz and Clicker Game

This workshop introduces children to programming using the free coding tool Scratch. Participants first create their own quiz on a topic of their choice, then code a clicker game inspired by Cookie Clicker. Along the way, they learn about variables such as points, countdowns, and high scores, as well as other game mechanics, and discover where to find freely usable images. Both the quiz and the game can be expanded, leaving room for further experimentation.

The workshop is for children who can read independently. Bring a laptop - a few computers are available to borrow by arrangement. Scratch is available both as a download and online; more information about versions will be sent about 1 week before. Parents are welcome to participate, and there will be a lunch break halfway through in an adjacent room.
