In this new lecture, Daniel Rye tells his full story for the first time - from his kidnapping in Syria in 2013 through his release and the years that followed, to the trial in the USA where he came face to face with two of his torturers.
The lecture is titled "From Prison Cell to Courtroom - How I Learned to Live with My Trauma" and covers the 12 years since his kidnapping: the captivity, the guilt of leaving his fellow hostages behind, the 15 million kroner the terrorist organization received for his release, and witnessing how his friends and former fellow prisoners were executed before the world's eyes. Daniel speaks about what happens to a person when subjected to abuse, and how one carries guilt and shame while trying to build a new life.
Following a new TV2 series about humor as a survival tool, Daniel steps back from the objective storyteller and shares his own reflections on everything he has been through.
