Reading Club: Crawling Creatures, Winged Words

Insects have found their way into literature. Ants, butterflies, flies and their many relatives are being treated in recent years with a love and literary attention that is unprecedented. Perhaps it is connected to the biodiversity crisis: as the number of multi-legged creatures shrinks, we slowly begin to see what we are losing. The Senegalese nature communicator Baba Dioum once said that we only fight for what we love - and that we can only love what we know.
