Leif Davidsen: Requiem for Russia

Leif Davidsen's new novel Requiem for Russia is a thriller about Russia's path from freedom to dictatorship and war. The protagonist Tor Alexandr Arnborg is a Danish-Russian special forces soldier who, when forced to repay an old debt of honour, sees his quiet life in rural Russia come to an abrupt end. He is drawn back into service and to Denmark, where he must choose between loyalty to his father's ancestral homeland and his own.

The lecture draws on the novel but also addresses Russia and Ukraine, grounded in Davidsen's countless journeys to Russia over the past 30 years. After the lecture there will be an opportunity for questions and discussion about both his authorship and Russia's current situation.

Leif Davidsen (born 1950) is a trained journalist who worked for over 20 years as a foreign correspondent for Danish Radio, including four years as Moscow correspondent. He has written 15 novels, translated into numerous languages, and received several awards. Since 1999 he has worked as a freelance author, freelance journalist, and lecturer.
