Folkeuniversitetet and professor of intellectual history Mikkel Thorup invite you to a series of philosophical evening lectures at Kulturbodega Bellis. Each session explores a contemporary question through a text from a critical historical moment - from Kant, Marx and Weber to Freud, Orwell and Judith Shklar.

This session examines Sigmund Freud's "Civilization and Its Discontents" from 1929, written as Europe moved toward fascism and war. Drawing on Freud's ideas about the tension between human drives and society's demands, we investigate what happens when conflicts are increasingly understood as cultural wars - and what this means for our ability to live together.

The series runs every Tuesday from week 43 through mid-December (except 24 November). The lecture runs 17:00-18:00 at Kulturbodega Bellis, Graven 21, 8000 Aarhus C.
