DR Klub Klassisk: Mahler and the 4th Symphony
Biblioteket i Herning, Herning · free, men tilmelding nødvendig
Gustav Mahler's "Symphony No. 4" is written for a small orchestra and concludes with a soprano solo. The work contains heavenly bells and old German folk songs, and is infused with hope and dreams.
Peter Uldahl is invited as the speaker and has previously visited the local listening club. He holds a degree in musicology, philosophy, history of ideas, and Spanish, and has also studied guitar and flamenco in Granada, Spain. The DR Symphony Orchestra and chief conductor Fabio Luisi will open the season on September 3rd with this very symphony.
DR Klub Klassisk is aimed at young people and adults who enjoy listening to and discussing classical music. Each month the club takes a composer or work as its starting point with a speaker - sometimes with a music background, sometimes one of the club's own members. The event takes place in Room ABC.
Participation is free but requires registration. Contact Dorte Grout at tel. +45 21 99 59 46 or bibdg@herning.dk.
