Create a Digital Christmas Card and Digital Snow Globe with Scratch

In this workshop, children use the free coding tool Scratch to create Christmas projects while learning to give computers commands through programming.

First, they create one or more digital Christmas cards with animations, sound clips, and music that can be sent to recipients via a link. Then they build a digital snow globe that can be "shaken" again and again. If time allows, there's an extra task ready. Along the way, children work with messages, loops, and clones, and receive an introduction to copyright plus tips on where to legally find graphics for their projects.

Practical info: The workshop is for children who can read independently. Bring a laptop (a few computers can be borrowed by arrangement), packed lunch, and drinks. Parents are welcome to participate. We take a lunch break halfway through in an adjacent room. Information about Scratch versions will be sent about 1 week before the workshop.
