Copenhagen at War

From the time of Absalon to World War II, Copenhagen has been the stage for decisive events in Danish history - and the traces are still visible in street names, plaques, statues, buildings and fortifications throughout the city.

On this guided tour you will visit, among other things, the struggle against the Lübeckers, Prince Jaromar who gave his name to Jarmers Plads, the city's fortifications and the establishment of the Fleet, Copenhagen's siege during the Count's Feud in the 1500s, Christian IV's war harbour, Copenhageners' struggle against the Swedes in 1659, the establishment of the Citadel, the Battle of the Roads, the English bombardment in 1807 and the occupation 1940-45.
