Mavero - The Path to Better Digestion — Hovedbiblioteket, Aarhus

What actually happens in your body when your stomach troubles you - and why is the solution rarely as simple as avoiding one particular food?

This is the central question when Helene Weinkouff Barsøe and Alice Højer Christensen present their joint book Mavero. The lecture is based on the premise that symptoms such as bloating, pain, fatigue and restlessness are typically the result of many strains that have accumulated over time - not a single isolated cause. The interplay between the stomach, microbiome and nervous system is central to the explanation.

The two speakers complement each other professionally: Alice Højer Christensen (b. 1963) is a specialist in gastrointestinal diseases with 35 years of experience in the healthcare system and researches the gut microbiome with a particular focus on IBS. She runs the private clinic MaveTarm og Sundhed. Helene Weinkouff Barsøe (b. 1999) is educated in communication from CBS, runs Heba Heba Kitchen and contributes with her own experience as a former IBS patient.

The lecture is relevant for anyone with digestive problems, for relatives and for those who wish to gain greater insight into the importance of digestion for health in general. It takes place in Store Sal and is arranged by FOF Aarhus in collaboration with Dokk1.
