Metacognitive Therapy - Break Free from Rumination
Hovedbiblioteket, Aarhus · Free
Metacognitive therapy is a modern treatment approach for mental health conditions such as anxiety and depression. Unlike many other therapeutic methods, it does not focus on the content of thoughts, but on what you do with them.
Central to the method is the concept of 'cognitive attentional syndrome' - a term covering unhelpful strategies such as worry, rumination, excessive attention, and avoidance behaviour that can contribute to developing and maintaining mental illness.
Authorized psychologist, Ph.D. and couples therapist Ina Skyt provides an introduction to metacognitive therapy and presents concrete tools and exercises to identify and reduce worries and rumination. Journalist Louise Sloth is the moderator.
The event is part of Folkeuniversitetet's knowledge festival Hearts & Minds and takes place in the Rampen room.
