Mette Riise: A Future with a Future
Hovedbiblioteket, Aarhus · Free
Who will care for us when we grow old? Who will work in healthcare, build our cities, and keep the welfare state running? What happens to our plans if climate change, artificial intelligence, and global crises change the rules faster than we can adapt?
In the performance "A Future with a Future", children have taken control of a resource centre for tomorrow's welfare society. Climate reports hang on the walls, forecasts cover the tables, and dressed in suits with coffee in hand, they develop strategies for Denmark's future - creating PowerPoints, launching fertility campaigns, placing recruitment centres on the map of Denmark, and trying to secure a welfare state under pressure.
Mette Riise is a Danish contemporary artist, trained in Vienna and Malmö. Her works are built on thorough research, where she either dives into unfamiliar industries - such as accounting or comedy - or brings subject-matter experts directly into the work.
The performance lasts 45 minutes and is for audiences aged 13 and up. Free admission, but reservation is recommended at info@liveart.dk. Venue: Dokk1, small hall. The event is part of LIVE ART FOR CHILDREN 2026.
