Music Therapy - When Music Moves the Brain
Hovedbiblioteket, Aarhus · 50 kr. · ≈ 7 €
Why can music awaken memories and emotions even when language fails? And what actually happens in the brain when we sing along to a song we know?
Professor of music therapy Hanne Mette Ochsner Ridder from Aalborg University gives a lecture on what music does to the brain and mind. Her research focuses on the connection between music and dementia, and she demonstrates concretely how singing can be used to improve quality of life - for some, it is precisely the song the body remembers: a lullaby or a melody from a love affair. The lecture also places music in a broader perspective and explores how it can strengthen wellbeing and relationships.
The event is part of Folkeuniversitetet's knowledge festival Hearts & Minds. The full programme can be found on Folkeuniversitetet's website. Venue: Lille sal.
