Klaphat & Snöleoparden | Open Listening #1

Klaphat is a four-piece band from the local area: Karl-Emil Grieger (drums, guitar, vocals), Simon Kuhlmann (bass, guitar, drums, vocals), Asmus Avlund (bass, guitar, piano, vocals), and Vitus Elsig Josefsen (drums, piano, vocals). The band plays modern dansktop and is joined for this occasion by Snöleoparden - Jonas Stampe, a sitar player trained by Ravi Shankar, blues guitarist, instrument builder, and composer.

The five perform together in an improvisation concert where nothing is planned in advance. Along the way, records and Danish niche music from Soundcloud are played, and the conversation explores what happens when music is completely free - and everything is dansktop.

This event is the first in autumn's Open Listening series, where the Music Library functions as a laboratory for musical experiments and conversations. Young voices from Roskilde's music and art scenes bring their own material - records, CDs, tapes, and music from various online forums - which are listened to together. The series will cover lyrical Nordic jazz, poetry, and live-improvised electrojazz throughout the autumn.

The concert is recorded live for release on the library's record label Haralda Records. The event takes place on Scenen. The venue is accessible by wheelchair, walker, and stroller, and people with hearing disabilities are welcome to bring their own assistive devices.
