lowkey: critical coding club is a coding club - a series of hangouts for anyone who wants to write computer programs with other people. Whether you're new or experienced, need inspiration, or just want to throw on headphones and hack, you are welcome. Expect a laid-back, self-organised atmosphere outside usual hierarchies: study groups, spontaneous pair programming, parallel working/body-doubling, or just folks with laptops.

lowkey is focused on creating a space for diverse coding practices and building community outside usual institutions and platforms - academic institutions, companies with ethical compromises beyond your control, or "expert"-meetups. Through critical technical practice, we are open to addressing the political and social questions tied to coding - not as abstract discussion, but integrated into the coding practice itself.

We acknowledge the historically unequal social reality within software and the patriarchal and capitalist structures within it. An inclusive and welcoming space is our way of acting. The event is inspired by community-based coding events worldwide and can be seen as a fork of Calm Coding by Varia in Rotterdam. lowkey is initiated by ursuppe.

Come and work on a project, follow a tutorial, or just code. If you need inspiration, you can check resources on the website. All participants are asked to read the Social Rules on the website beforehand.
