Community Lecture on Christianshavn - Talk with Lise Hvarregaard: A Glimpse of Iceland
Vor Frelsers Kirke, Copenhagen · 30 kr. · ≈ 4 €
A lecture by Lise Hvarregaard, author and speaker, titled "A Glimpse of Iceland - Nature and Storytelling Tradition".
The lecture explores Iceland's nature and storytelling tradition through words and images. We visit central locations with landscapes that differ markedly from Denmark, and delve into Icelandic sagas and legends with their dramas of life and death, feuds and hatred, but also love stories and tender passion. What is the connection between the magnificent nature and the sagas' fascination? Can it be anything but coincidence that these contributions to world literature arose precisely here, on an island far out in the Atlantic?
Lise Hvarregaard has written 6 books about Iceland, cultural history, sagas, literature, and Icelandic horses. Her latest, "Halldór Laxness and the Horses", was published in November 2025.
The event takes place at Stanleys Gaard, St. Søndervoldstræde 2, 1st floor - there is an elevator to the lecture hall. Participation costs 30 kr., which goes to the Community Care's work, and is paid in cash or by MobilePay on the day. Community Care on Christianshavn is a collaboration between Christians Church and Our Saviour's Church. Read more at www.christianskirke.dk and www.vorfrelserskirke.dk.
