Bjerringbro - One of West Denmark's Oldest Railway Towns

When the railway expanded across the country, new towns grew up along the tracks. Bjerringbro is one of the earliest examples: the station opened here in July 1863 as part of the Langå-Viborg line - only the second railway west of the Great Belt.

The lecture explores Bjerringbro and provides an overview of the railway's and railway towns' development, from their heyday to decline and depopulation, and examines the cultural-historical qualities these towns hold.

In connection with the lecture, Bjerringbro Local History Archive presents a small photo exhibition showing Bjerringbro Station through the ages. The exhibition can be viewed in Viften.
