Frida Kahlo - A Unique Destiny

Frida Kahlo (1907-1954) was a Mexican painter, best known for her portraits and self-portraits. Bjerringbro Folkeuniversitet has invited Anne Valbjørn Odgaard to give a lecture on Kahlo's life and art.

The biographical foundation is striking: a serious traffic accident, a tumultuous marriage to painter Diego Rivera, and an affair with communist Lev Trotsky. The lecture also explores the artistic practice itself - the personal foundation, the powerful and often surrealist symbolism, and the use of Mexican culture and themes of womanhood.

The lecture takes place in Gudenåhuset, Bjerringbro Bibliotek, Viften.
