Ceramics and Graphics in Gudenåhuset — Bjerringbro Bibliotek, Bjerringbro

Mariane Majgaard runs a ceramic and graphic studio alongside her gallery in Lemvig. She trained as a ceramic designer at the School of Arts and Crafts (1972-1976) and as a graphic artist at the Graphic School (1992-1995). In addition to her own work, she teaches ceramics, drawing, and graphics.

In her ceramics, the sphere is a recurring form - it serves as the starting point for her modeled works, which she either builds upon or leaves in their pure basic form. In woodcut, it is the wood grain, the direction of the cuts, and the meeting of printing ink with paper that together create the image's expression. In aquatint, the strength of the acid, the etching time, and the wiping are decisive for the final result.

Mariane's background includes three months working with ceramicist Philippe Albiac in southern France in 1976, where she learned firing in a wood-fired kiln. From 1976 to 1980 she shared a studio with two other ceramicists at Lund Old School near Herning, and from 1980 to 2017 she had a studio on Høgsgårdvej in Nr. Nissum. Today she fires in an electric kiln in Lemvig.

The exhibition is shown in the Exhibition Space in Gudenåhuset, Bjerringbro Library, during library hours: Monday-Wednesday 10-18, Thursday-Friday 10-17, and Saturday 10-13. Closed Sunday.
