Guided tour of Saltbæk Vig

Saltbæk Vig lies north of Kalundborg and is a protected nature reserve with no public access. In the 1800s, attempts were made to dam the bay and pump out the water to cultivate the old seabed - this failed, and instead resulted in a large lake with rare plants and rich birdlife. The area also contains cultural-historical traces from the damming attempts.

On the guided tour, participants meet at the Saltbæk car park and drive in their own cars out onto the dike, where you park in the old village. The tour lasts approximately 2 hours and includes a visit to one of the old mills with a number of stairs. The tour is not suitable for people with mobility difficulties.
