MusikMandag: A Journey into the Fascinating Universe of Balkan Music

Clarinetist Siri Iversen has taken her love of Balkan music seriously: as part of her studies at the music conservatory in Odense, she travelled to Bulgaria and studied clarinet and singing at Plovdiv Academy of Music and Fine Arts. She later continued with world music in Gothenburg.

Today she is active in the Balkan orchestra Minko Kupona and writes her own music - a kind of "South Funen" take on the Balkan tradition. At MusikMandag, she takes the audience through the genre and its culture via irregular rhythms, beautiful melodies, and stories about the meeting between people and music.
