
MusikMandag: A Journey into the Fascinating Universe of Balkan Music
Clarinetist Siri Iversen explores the world of Balkan music through unconventional rhythms, melodies, and cultural narratives at MusikMandag in Viborg.
Siri Iversen is a Danish clarinettist, bass clarinettist, singer and composer rooted in the experimental folk music scene. She trained in folk music at the Southern Danish Music Conservatory and in world music at the Academy of Music and Drama in Gothenburg, with additional studies in clarinet and singing in Bulgaria. She plays with the Svendborg-based Balkan ensemble Minko Kupona and is a core member of the Nordic acoustic trio Himla, whose 2021 debut album earned a DMA nomination for best new Danish roots act.
Minko Kupona performed at SMØJEN at Lundeborg Havn in July 2025 with Siri Iversen on clarinet and vocals.
Siri Iversen visited Svendborg Library's Listening Club in January 2025 to talk about and play Balkan music.
Himla-trioens debut album was released in February 2021 and gave the group a DMA nomination as the year's new Danish roots name.
