In Rasmus Daugbjerg's novel Rasmus Nielsøn, an unlucky farmhand in love meets the mermaid Ibrant, who carries a prophecy about the coming Christian IV. In Feline Kamber's debut Foder til høns, a love triangle unfolds in an island community inhabited by ghosts, living porcelain figures and demons - while a wedding approaches. Both novels let folklore, desire and dark forces break into existence and explore how difficult it can be to resist the fate others have laid out.

Rasmus Daugbjerg and Feline Kamber meet for a conversation about writing the past into being and giving voice to people who long for a different life. The moderator is literary programme director Anette Øster.

About the authors

Rasmus Daugbjerg made his debut in 2021 with Rygtet and has since published Trold (2022) and Rasmus Nielsøn (2026). He was nominated for Montana's Literature Prize in 2022 and for the Blixen Prize for the year's novel in 2023 for Trold, the same year he received the Michael Strunge Prize and the State Arts Foundation's three-year working grant. In 2024 he received the Mare Kandre Prize, presented at the Stockholm International Poetry Festival.
