When the World Becomes Electric - A Lecture on Love and Eternity Machines

Annette Bjergfeldt, author of the novels Højsangen fra Palermovej and Mr Saitos Rejsebiograf, presents her new novel Himlen over Kattesundet, set in Copenhagen in 1910 when electricity was just arriving.

At the heart of the story is Sofia, whose family missed the era's great patent and lives with the consequences. Around her circles a brother obsessed with swan wings and a mother who carves mermaids and throws them into the canal. Despite the chaos, Sofia harbors great ambitions - for the Nobel Prize and for love.

Annette Bjergfeldt has been translated into 27 languages, received a Grammy nomination, and once performed for a horse as her only audience. At the lecture, she discusses her own winding path as a writer. She brings books that can be purchased and signed on the spot.
