Adoption: Don't We Talk About It: Wednesday 21 October 2026, 17:00–19:00, Bibliotekshuset, Copenhagen. Tickets cost 30 kr.

Lars-Hussein was adopted in 1967 by Danish missionaries and made a journey from south to north - a journey others decided for him, and one nobody wanted to discuss. Not even today.

Adoption is not a post-war phenomenon, but globalization dramatically changed its scale: whereas it previously took place primarily locally, children were transported across borders in large numbers. More than 22,000 children have been adopted to Denmark from abroad, and adult adoptees have shaped public debate for several years with a voice that has given the subject far greater attention than before.

In the lecture, Lars-Hussein shares his inner and outer journey - from growing up in Rwanda to his teenage years and adult life in Denmark with an adoptive family.

The ticket includes a beverage.
