Folkeuniversitetet and professor of intellectual history Mikkel Thorup invite you to a series of philosophical evening lectures at Kulturbodega Bellis, where history's sharpest thinkers serve as a lens for understanding the present. Each lecture starts with a current question and a text from an earlier turning point - from Kant, Marx and Weber to Freud, Orwell and Judith Shklar.

This evening focuses on Max Weber's essay "Politics as a Vocation" from 1919, written amid the turmoil surrounding the birth of the Weimar Republic after World War I. Weber sought to understand mass society, propaganda, and the rise of politics as a profession. We examine how the relationship between politics, media and the masses has changed since then.

The series takes place every Tuesday from week 43 until mid-December (except 24/11), 17:00-18:00 at Kulturbodega Bellis, Graven 21, 8000 Aarhus C. The price is 75 kr. and includes an optional Tuborg beer or a glass of lemonade.
