Folkeuniversitetet and history of ideas professor Mikkel Thorup invite you to a series of philosophical evening lectures at Kulturbodega Bellis, where classical thinkers - from Kant, Marx and Weber to Freud, Orwell and Judith Shklar - serve as a lens for understanding our own time. Each lecture starts with a current question and a text from an earlier turning point in history.

This evening focuses on Richard Hofstadter's classic essay "The Paranoid Style in American Politics" from 1964, which examines the conspiracy thinking and mistrust that have shaped American politics throughout history. Mikkel Thorup investigates what happens when the American paranoid style increasingly gains ground in Danish and European politics.
