Behind the Culture: You May Be Done with the Past, But the Past Is Not Done with You
On the occasion of Behind the Culture, artist Lasse Krog Møller takes you behind the scenes at Kunsthal Aarhus. Entry is free, the event is in Danish, and registration is via Billetto.
During the evening you will hear about the earliest avant-garde exhibitions in the 1920s, cat and aquarium fish exhibitions in the 1930s, and unrealised projects such as an extension in the park's trees and a balloon bridge between ARoS and Kunsthallen. There are also stories from when Queen Margrethe exhibited, when the entire building was painted red, and when it served as a uniform warehouse for the Germans during World War II.
The background is that Kunsthal Aarhus in autumn 2026 is digging deep into its own past in collaboration with archive artist Lasse Krog Møller. He is working on a larger artwork that will unfold in meeting rooms, corridors, toilets and stairs in the building - and which will be unveiled in early 2027. This evening is a taste of the stories being developed, presented by Lasse Krog Møller himself.
