Author Niels Krause-Kjær presents his novel "Ude for uden" (Out Beyond), inspired by a real travel journal from the Danish National Archives written by his father. The novel portrays a Denmark where major changes over half a century transformed ways of life and identity.
Through the young farmer Erik, we follow life after World War II: hard labour, setbacks, and hope in a time when farming gradually gave way to urban ideals, and old values came under pressure.
The lecture connects the personal with the historical, exploring inheritance, identity, and the ruptures that shaped modern Denmark.
